Afraid of the Light, Are We?

Full view please, or you'll miss the reason why I uploaded this in the first place.

Yay, having fun with filters! As I only used the Watercolor filter and crop, nothing else (not even colour correction), I assume this is the correct category. The Photomanipulation category stated that more changes than one filter are needed, so... *shrug*

I think the point where you can tell your fish keeping hobby has gone a bit overboard is when you happily spend 50€ on fish that you never see. This here is Hillevi, a shy, expensive female catfish from South America, officially known as Jari Zebra Pleco, Hypancistrus sp. L316. A fancy name for a beautiful fish, assuming you ever get to see them.

Now that my couple has been in their home for over a year, they seem to have begun to trust me and I can finally see what I bought. The female will happily show me a bit of tail fin for a few delicious frozen creepy-crawlies, and even the male (Herman) occasionally deigns to show his pretty face. Only to me though; guests will wonder why on earth I keep an empty tank. It's fun to look at their expressions of disbelief and slight worry when I try to explain I actually have 20 fish in there, they're just all catfish.

Anyway, the point of this long babbling was to explain why the colours look so funky. Taking a photo of a shy, dark fish hidden in a cave in a dimly lit tank isn't easy. This is just what I got. As the grain was pretty bad, I played around a bit with different filters and ended up with this, which I thought looked good enough to be shown. I hope you agree.
